Current coverage at a glance

Police coverage

UK Flashpoint maintains a registry of 48 territorial, specialist and national police sources. 10 are currently enabled for automated official-source discovery. A force being unavailable here does not mean incidents in that force area cannot appear through other discovery routes, but direct official-source coverage is weaker.

Fire & Rescue Service coverage

The current Fire and Rescue registry contains 13 configured services, of which 8 are enabled. Unlike the police registry, this is not yet a complete inventory of every UK Fire and Rescue Service. Services not listed below are therefore themselves a known coverage gap.

National Alert coverage

Coordinate-free national Alerts cover current or near-term UK operational disruption, warnings, shortages, outages, restrictions and resilience problems with material national or multi-region relevance.

Ordinary politics, broad economic commentary and routine crime reporting are outside the national Alert scope.

Systems monitoring

The Systems dashboard uses separate structured monitoring sources. Coverage is not uniform across every sector or every part of the UK.

Other discovery routes

Direct police and Fire and Rescue feeds are not the only way an incident can be discovered. UK Flashpoint also uses bounded news discovery, GDELT and other source-specific routes. These can identify events in areas without a working direct official feed, but they do not make coverage comprehensive.

What the tracker does not claim

• UK Flashpoint is not a complete UK crime database.
• It does not contain every police or Fire and Rescue incident.
• An empty part of the map does not prove that nothing happened there.
• Coordinate-free Alerts deliberately do not appear as map markers.
• Official organisations may report incidents after they occur.
• Automated access can be blocked or temporarily unavailable.
• News and search discovery can miss relevant events.
• Source outages must not be interpreted as normal conditions.
• Public records can change when better evidence becomes available.

Why some official sources are unavailable

UK public bodies use many different publishing systems. Some provide stable RSS feeds, APIs or structured listings. Others expose only ordinary web pages, restrict machine access, publish little operational information or use systems that cannot currently be polled reliably without bypassing access controls.

UK Flashpoint does not evade source restrictions. Where a reliable public official route cannot be verified, the source remains visibly unavailable until a suitable route is found.
